The day consisted of driving up into the hills and countryside in and around Benidorn, using small rough tracks and roads with stops here and there for viewing and photo opportunities. After a few more pick ups we drove into the countryside and met up with some other groups and then we got going. #LOS VIAJES DE MARCOPOLO DRIVER#Just back from this jeep safari trip and wow what a day! We were picked up at our hotel at 9.15 by a lovely guy called Alex who was our driver for the day. We also bought a souvenir photo of the day at the waterfall which we accidentally forgot in the 4x4, but Dennis was so diligent that he found it and returned it to us within moments of us reporting it to Marco Polo HQ. We also visited a small town at the top of a huge mountain and had a steep trek down a rocky track whereby Dennis joked of losing his brakes! Totally awesome day with a huge thanks to Dennis. The trek also included an awesome natural waterfall and a stop at one of the most beautiful dams and lake I have ever seen, with a gorgeous blue lagoon glow. He made the mountain trek very enjoyable and drove at the appropriate speed and ensure everyone in his care had their seatbelts on and on some parts of the trek, allowed us to stand up within the 4x4. He took great care to include all the occupants on the tour and made adults and children extremely welcome. We were collected from the hotel by a very charming tour guide/driver, Dennis, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. I cannot express how much of a fantastic day out I had with my two children 13yrs and 9yrs. It was definitely the highlight of our holiday. The whole thing is run very professionally and the people are so friendly and thoughtful. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. The reservoir was the most brilliant blue I had ever seen and the villages were fantastic to walk around. The waterfalls were beautiful but freezing cold! Bring swim shoes if you have them. He was so knowledgable and really took an interest in us. He also kept stopping to show us plants and scenery and give information on where we were. Our driver, who I apologise to as I cannot remember his name, kept checking him and letting him know if we were going off road, if it would be bumpy, a bit steep etc, and this really made a difference. What helped was that the drivers, all of them, were brilliant with him and kept checking and chatting to him at every stop. I have to say that there was a little boy of about 6 in the back and he thoroughly enjoyed it! A lady in the middle seat very kindly swapped with my grandson and, with playing games on his phone to distract him, he began to relax and enjoy it. My grandson was especially looking forward to it but, unfortunately, he is autistic and he found the drive quite frightening, especially as he was originally sitting in the front passenger seat. My self, my daughter and 13yr old grandson went on the safari, up the mountains to the waterfalls, reservoir and Guadalest.
